Special Trolley 139 SEF for Belmond & VSOE
Belmond & VSOE – Venice Simplon-Orient-Express operates in the field of tourism organization within the railway sector, onboard luxury travel trains. The client requested a special trolley for transporting food, designed to maintain the cold chain from the kitchen to the dining car.
The request: to design a compact trolley capable of adapting to the limited spaces of railway environments, while also allowing loading and unloading of goods at different heights. Equipped with a refrigeration unit to maintain the cold chain from 0 to 5 °C, down to temperatures as low as -20 °C.
The product we developed features a refrigerated, liftable insulated container, which can also be made in a non-refrigerated, fixed version. The refrigeration unit is powered by a connection to the mains, while the lifting system draws energy from the locomotive’s battery. The split doors have been designed to allow perfect alignment with the railway carriage. The internal equipment has also been carefully designed: it can include a foldable sliding platform for loading and unloading materials; The wheels are designed to enable manual movement of the trolley near the train and allow small relocations within the railway station.
